"el maestro ruso Edvard Tchivzhel, que dirigió con autoridad y eficacia a los más de sesenta instrumentistas que constituían la agrupación orquestal extremeña, imprimiendo energía y brillantez a las dos grandes obras que integraban el programa... Pese a que la duración del concierto sobrepasaba las dos horas los aplausos de los espectadores obligaron al director a saludar en repetidas ocasiones." Read full review and translation

 - EMILIO GONZÁLEZ BARROSO/BADAJOZ, December 2006

"The flamboyant Tchivzhel launched Rimsky-Korsakov's Tsar Sultan Suite with a whirl of his baton and we were off on the composer's fantastical saga.

"With a palette that was bewitchingly bright, Tchivzhel built quite a ceremony around the hero's departure, set the second movement beautifully atop the ocean waves and ensured that the Finale sparked and sparkled, with some admirable woodwind playing.

"Stravinsky's Firebird fluttered and flashed, the Princesses danced to clear-chiselled textures while the Sorcerer, Kashchei, burst upon us like some infernal whirlwind." Read full review

In May 2004, I had the privilege of performing the Dvorak Cello Concerto with the musicians of the GSO under Maestro Tchivzhel's direction.

Maestro Tchivzhel descended from the great line of conductors from St. Petersburg, Russia - Mravinsky, Janssens, Temirkanov. He is, simply put, a master. From the opening bars of our rehearsal, I was so stunned to hear the musicians, to a person, playing the Dvorak with such a long arc of phrasing, with an energy and alertness that is so rare. There is an authority and authenticity in Maestro Tchivzhel's music making that is indisputably commanding and communicative. It came as no surprise when I learned that the orchestra musicians come from a tri-state area to play with him.

Maestro Tchivzhel is a remarkable man, and most astounding is his character. When he arrived in the U .S., the citizens of his new home assisted him in learning the English language. When they later needed a new orchestra conductor, Maestro Tchivzhel out of loyalty offered his services. He has done wonders with the orchestra and has adopted his new country as his own. I departed Greenville hoping for other opportunities to work with him.

Maestro Edvard Tchivzhel would be an invaluable asset to any music organization. I cannot recommend him highly enough.

Yo-Yo E. Ma

I recommend Edward as a bright individual artist and a highly professional conductor with a wide repertoire and extensive experience as a head conductor and artistic director. He is very good at establishing personal and artistic contacts with orchestra musicians; very quick and productive during rehearsals; and most capable of leading a world class level orchestra.

Maestro Neeme Järvi, New Jersey Symphony Orchestra

"His serious and thoughtful work, his great sense of responsibility and diligence; his ability to communicate and his kind attitude toward people -- all these were factors in Edvard Tchivzhel's becoming a master artist, a professional.

"I have had numerous occasions to perform with Edvard in my capacity as a soloist with the best of orchestras, such as the Leningrad Philharmonic and the USSR State Orchestra, and each time it was indeed a pleasure."

Vladimir Spivakov, (former) Artistic Director,
Moscow Virtuosi Orchestra

"In my opinion Edvard is a very talented conductor with outstanding experience in conducting symphony as well as opera. He would be qualified to conduct any orchestra of the highest level."
